Greetings from Care of Creation Kenya (CCK) in Kijabe!
I trust that you are well and that 2017 has been a wonderful year so far. We at CCK have continued to spread a message of hope despite the environmental and food security challenges experienced in the region to date. We thank the Lord for the opportunity he has granted us to continue our efforts in transforming people and the land that sustains them.
One of our key celebration moments was when participants at our February 2017 conference were able to witness first-hand a stark contrast in harvest with onions: 134kg on the Farming God’s Way side and only 25kg on the Conventional plot planted side by side, with the same number of seedlings on the same day and similar treatment (inputs and rainfall). FGW had 5 times more harvest, and in very dry conditions. Our plots are small – about 1/100 of an acre. This means that had we planted an acre, we would have harvested about 13.4 tons on that piece of land whereas the typical farmer would have obtained only 2.5 tons.
Just a few weeks earlier, we also harvested a crop of green peas. Again, the contrasts were poles apart: 28kg for the Farming God’s Way plot and only 2.5kg for the conventional plot.
We believe that as we continue to offer Creation Care and Farming God’s Way training, there will be more people all over the country and continent adopting these approaches for the glory of the Lord. It is against this backdrop that we have scheduled another conference for 4th– 7th April 2017. Kindly pass this message around and through your networks. The details for the conference are presented below:
