Following the Rafiki Bank Chama breakfast forum, Nulands organized a bus tour for Chamas (investment groups) and individuals who wanted to visit the Narok gated farm lands project on 11th March 2017. Interested investors started arriving at the meeting point in CBD as early as 6:30 am for a 7:30 am departure. By 7:30, all the three tour vans were full and ready to depart. Two and a half hours later, the party was in Narok town. They were joined by another group of investors who had driven from Kisii that morning. After a few minutes of appreciating Narok Town, the convoy of 5 vehicles headed to the gated farm lands.
Being the land preparation season in readiness for the long rains the team was able to observe various farms at different states of land preparation and planting. The water harvesting trench system and the effect of the growing trees in improving the environment was evident. Most people in the party were amazed at how different and improved the areas under Nulands care and transformation program looked compared to the surrounding areas. Many said that they now understood what “transforming land…. Creating possibilities” meant.
As usual, the party was treated to a lunch buffet at Ewaso Nyiro Town which included the famous herb grazed Narok goat nyama choma before heading back for Nairobi at 4 pm.
In the words of one of the participants “what a privilege to observe the future in the making while enjoying some dividends in the present”
